The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 520 S Highland Avenue at 10:13 PM Tuesday, 10 August. Crews arrive on scene at 10:17 PM to a single family residence with nothing showing and the occupants in the yard. Upon investigation crews found small pockets of smoldering fire in the attic. These were extinguished and ceiling materials were removed.
Crews remained on scene until 12:43 PM.
No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or bystanders. Five Joplin Fire units and 15 Joplin Fire personnel responded, as well as JPD and METS.
The cause of the fire was ruled electrical.
