A Stella teen was killed and a Purdy man injured in a head-on collision 4 p.m. Thursday on Route HH, three miles west of Fairview.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1999 Ford Ranger driven by Christopher R. Hancock, 38, Purdy, crossed the center line and struck a 2014 Nissan Versa driven by Daniel A. Marks, 19, Stella head on.
Assistant Newton County Coroner Brian Abernathy pronounced Marks dead at the scene.
Hancock was treated for serious injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
The fatality was the 73rd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
