Joplin Police Department welcomes Fighter, new K9 officer

The Joplin Police Department would like to take a moment to introduce a new member of the department. On Monday November 7th, 2016 Police K9 Fighter worked his first shift with the department.

Fighter is a two year old German Shepard from Poland. After completing 400 hours of training, Fighter is trained in Explosives Detection, Suspect Apprehension, and Tracking. Fighter is also certified in building and area searches which can be used to located people.

Fighter is assigned to Officer Randy Black who has been with the department since 2002. Officer Black has trained with Fighter for the duration of his training. Fighter will reside with Officer Black and his family.
