Joplin teen dies from gunshot wound

A Joplin teen died Friday from what the Newton County Sheriff's office is describing as an accidental shooting.

The shooting took place in the home of Jona Rosson, 19, in the 4300 block of Connecticut when she and her husband were "horsing around,'" according to the Sheriff's Office.

The gun, which the husband had holstered on his belt, accidentally went off, the Sheriff's Office said.

The husband was attempting first aid when deputies arrived. Rosson died at Mercy Hospital.
