Three injured, one airlifted to Mercy Springfield after crash on I-44

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident 5:49 p.m. Saturday on I-44, eight miles east of Fidelity.

According to the Highway Patrol report, John K. Rousseau, 47, Allen, Texas, driving a 1998 Toyota 4Runner, lost control and struck the left side of a 2010 Honda Ridgeline driven by Allen L. Meyer, 62, Bella Vista, Arkansas. The Rousseau vehicle overturned several times on the roadway. The Meyer vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and came to rest on the median cables.

Rousseau was airlifted to Mercy Hospital, Springfield, with serious injuries. Meyer was treated for serious injuries and a passenger in his vehicle, Donna K. Meyer, 60, Bella Vista, for moderate injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
