Joplin man arrested for first degree assault after another man left, bleeding unconscious in roadway

On September 26, 2018 at 10:16 p.m. the Joplin Police Department responded to the 1500 block of South Connor for a report of a male laying in the roadway bleeding.

Officers arrived and located Michael J. Osborne, 33, Joplin, lying in the roadway. Osborne had serious head injuries and was unconscious. He was transported to Freeman Hospital and then transferred to Kansas University Medical Center.

On October 4th, 2018 officers with the Joplin Police Department arrested Jack T. Ballard, 39, Joplin, for first degree assault against the victim. The Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office filed Assault in the 1st Degree with no bond. Ballard remains in custody. Osborne remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
