A Noel man has been charged with driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident 2:47 a.m. today on MO 90, one mile west of Pineville in which one person was killed and the driver seriously injured.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2000 GMC Yukon driven by Sheldon L. Russell, 22, Noel, drove off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
A passenger, Anna M. Williams, 22, Cernerton, Arkansas, was pronounced dead at the scene by McDonald County Deputy Coroner Johnathon Fletcher at 3 a.m.
In addition to the DWI charge, Russell, who was treated for serious injuries at Northwest Arkansas Hospital, was also cited for driving while suspended, careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident, no seat belt and no insurance.
The fatality was the 30th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
