The National Weather Service in Springfield has expanded the * Flash Flood Watch to include portions of southwest Missouri and west central Missouri, including the following areas, in southwest Missouri, Barry, Barton, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Greene, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Polk, Stone, and Taney. In west central Missouri, Vernon. * From 1 PM CDT this afternoon through Tuesday evening * Heavy rainfall rates will be possible this afternoon through Tuesday night across southeast Kansas and portions of southwestern Missouri. Total rainfall amounts of one to three inches are expected during this period with locally higher amounts possible. This rainfall will fall on already saturated soils, increasing the potential for flash flooding. * Low lying areas and areas near rivers, creeks and streams will likely become flooded at times.
