Former Neosho resident charged with felony DWI after head-on crash seriously injures Oronogo man

A Camdenton woman, who at one time was a Neosho resident, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle collision 7:58 a.m. today, 10 miles west of Jasper in which two people were injured.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2012 Ford Focus driven by Sydney R. Whitmire, 21, Camdenton, crossed the center line and struck a 2014 Jeep Patriot driven by Colby A. Castaneda, 27, Oronogo.

Castaneda was treated for serious injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.








Whitmire, who was treated for minor injuries at Freeman, was cited for felony DWI (drugs), felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended or revoked, no insurance, no seat belt and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.

Whitmire pleaded guilty February 7, 2018 to careless and imprudent driving  in connection with an October 6, 2017 crash in Laclede County. Laclede County Circuit Court online records indicate she pleaded guilty under an agreement in which authorities agreed not to prosecute Whitmire on a more serious charge, was given a suspended sentence with the stipulation that she undergo treatment.

Her probation was revoked and she was handed a $300 fine, according to court records.

On May 6, Whitmire was cited in St. Clair County May 6 for driving while revoked.
