Carl Junction students shine at national Technology Student Association conference
No other chapter in the nation received as much recognition from the National Technology Student Association this year as the Carl Junction TSA Chapter.

Carl Junction students representing the Technical Students’ Association (TSA) claimed three of the top individual awards, a chapter award, and a state advisor award at the virtual National TSA conference last week.

Earning honors were:

• Audrey Garoutte (Class of 2020, top photo): National TSA Distinguished Student Award. This award is the highest award National TSA presents to a student.

• Ashley Stokes (Class of 2020): National TSA William P Elrod Memorial Scholarship.

• Steven Stokes (Class of 2015): National TSA Distinguished Alumni Award.

• The Carl Junction High School TSA Chapter recognized for being a 30+ White CAP chapter (a membership award).

• Carl Junction Junior High Science Teacher and Junior High TSA Advisor Marsha McCorkle recognized as the Middle School Advisor of the Year for the state of Missouri.

• At the State-level, two Carl Junction students will serve as state officers by 2020-21 – Junior Tiffany Pham, State TSA President, and Senior Sam Kim, SW Region Vice-President.

Audrey Garoutte and Ashley Stokes were also recognized for their service on the 2019-20 National Officer Team as National TSA President and National TSA Treasurer. According to the TSA website, this is the first time that one school has received these three top individual awards in the same year.

Carl Junction Technology Student Association advisors are Chris Huhn and Marsha McCorkle.
