(From the Jasper Police Department)

On Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 10:58 hrs., Jasper PD officer initiated a traffic stop at baseline Boulevard just east of County Road 160 on a white 2012 GMC Yukon with a Kansas license plate in reference to improper lane use.

The vehicle was observed traveling in the opposite lane of travel several times. Due to serious public safety concerns, permission to stop the vehicle was asked for and granted since the officer was outside his jurisdiction.

Contact was made with the driver, Tyler Goodwin (Derby, Ks) and the front passenger, Jett Williamson (Wichita, Ks), the officer figured out quickly something was not right and requested backup.

Jasper County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived, as wwll as a K-9 unit.

After search, the following was found:

*two handguns (one under each of the front seats… Confirmed stolen.
*1/2 ounce of crystal meth
*Ski mask and skull mask
*Other drug related items

It is not known at this time their motives as far as the guns and masks go. Both subjects are felons, Goodwin is currently on parole out of Kansas.

Goodwin and Williamaon were both arrested and are facing charges for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a firearm, recieving stolen property.

Great job to JCSO and K9 Arner.

Both Goodwin and Williamson are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
