(From the Jasper County Sheriff's Office)On 6-8-2023, Jasper County Deputies were dispatched to 1085 Joplin Street in Carl Junction for a disturbance.
Upon arrival Deputies encountered several subjects at the residence arguing and one male appeared to be bleeding from his face. While on scene the investigation it was learned a moving company had shown up to repossess two sheds from the residence.
The homeowner started an argument with the workers. He went into his residence, retrieved a pellet/BB pistol and fired at least one shot, striking a worker in the cheekbone causing injury. The victim went to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was arrested and identified as Douglas Starbuck, 38, of Carl Junction. Starbuck was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center. Charges have been sent for review to the Prosecuting Attorney for assault first degree and unlawful use of a weapon.
