Joplin woman arrested after allegedly stabbing fiance in the thigh

On June 15, 2023, at 08:40 a.m. the Joplin Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call for a report of a stabbing at the Northpark Apartments at 3510 E. Newman Road in Joplin. 

Information was received that an adult male suffered a stab wound to his thigh. Officers arrived on scene and began providing emergency medical assistance until METS and Joplin Fire Department personnel arrived. 

The victim was given further medical aid and taken to Freeman Hospital for his injuries. He was last known to be in serious but stable condition. 







Joplin Police Detectives were summoned to the scene and after further investigation it was determined that the victim had been stabbed by his fiancĂ© following an argument. 

Joplin Police arrested the suspect, Shawanda O.A. Clark, age 35 of Joplin, on charges of Domestic Assault in the 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action. She remains in custody at the Joplin City Jail.
