TRAFFIC ALERT: Expect Delays Over July 4 Holiday Due to Damaged I-44 Bridge at Exit 18

Where: I-44 bridge over I-49 in Jasper County at Exit 18 in Fidelity

What: Holiday travelers should expect delays on eastbound I-44 due to damaged bridge

Traffic Impacts

Eastbound traffic reduced to one lane until repairs to bridge are completed

These ramps at Exit 18 CLOSED:

Westbound I-44-to-southbound Missouri Route 59 off ramp

Northbound Missouri Route 59-to-westbound I-44 on ramp

Eastbound I-44-to-northbound I-49 off ramp

Southbound I-49-to-eastbound I-44 on ramp

No signed detour

Eastbound I-44 speed limit reduced to 60 mph where traffic reduced to one lane

Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the bridges

Drivers urged to find alternate routes

The clover leaf ramps are CLOSED at Exit 18 due to the location of the damage under the bridges and to reduce the volume of traffic in an area with reduced lanes and reduced speeds, and in an effort to maintain the safety of the traveling public.
