A Sarcoxie woman was killed in a five-vehicle accident 5:31 p.m. Monday on I-44 one mile west of Fidelity.
According to the Highway Patrol report, vehicles were slowed for congested traffic when a 2011 Volvo VNL tractor-trailer driven by Admir Kulovac, 46, Des Moines, Iowa, struck 2022 Hyundai Venue driven by Cortney D. Johnson, 37, Sarcoxie, causing the Johnson vehicle to hit a 2023 Volvo VNL tractor-trailer driven by Ayhan Gabin, 55, Brooklyn, New York, which struck a 2023 Volvo VNL tractor-trailer driven by Roy N. Thornhill, Blue Mound, Texas, which struck a 2010 Ford F150 driven by Billy J. Golden, 57, Marionville.
Jasper County Coroner Randy Nace pronounced Johnson dead at the scene at 6:31 p.m.
Kulovac was treated for serious injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.
The fatality was the 65th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
