MSSU communication students honored during ceremony

Students involved with KCGS-TV were honored during the Department of Communication Recognition Ceremony held on April 30 at Missouri Southern State University. Awards recognized student involvement and academic achievement.

The station presented Meritorious Service Certificates to Shayne Carnahan, freshman, Grove, Okla; and John Seitz, freshman, Carthage. The awards recognize their support of KGCS programming, including sports productions.

The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Deidra D. Morris, junior, Carl Junction; and the Student of the Year Award was presented to Shonte Clay, senior, Chicago, Ill.

The recipients of the Ruth I. Kolpin Broadcast Scholarship were also announced at the ceremonies – Kristen Hanna, sophomore, St. Louis; and Brandon Stokes, junior, Joplin. The endowed scholarship provides funding for two communication students with academic achievements and broadcast involvement.
