Stolen car recovered; Duquesne man arrested for tampering, felony DWI

On May 20, 2014 at approximately 4:40 PM and officer was dispatched to Wendy’s located at 1625 S. Rangeline for a vehicle theft. The victim reported that someone had stolen her keys from the table while she was not looking. She went outside to find her car missing. The victim along with another female indicated that their purses were still in the vehicle when it was taken.
One of the victims later received a fraud alert email from one of her credit cards and it indicated that her card had been used at Toys R Us and at Ross Dress for Less in Joplin. Officers responded to the area of Toys R Us and Ross Dress for Less. An officer saw the stolen vehicle at approximately 6:11 PM driving through the parking lot. The officer followed the vehicle and stopped the vehicle in the area of 1411 S. Rangeline. The purses were not in the vehicle, however, they were located in the area of 8th and Highview.
The suspect of the vehicle theft was identified as James D. Landrith a 34 year old male from Duquesne, MO. Mr. Landrith was arrested for 1st Degree Vehicle Tampering, Felony Driving While Intoxicated, and Felony Driving While Revoked
