Work scheduled:
Widening pavement along Route 171. Crews are working westbound on Route 171 from Route 43 and then will work their way back east to the intersection.
Relocating utility lines.
Drainage work on south side of Route 171.
Installing storm sewers Route 171.
Building curbs and gutters.
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
Traffic Impacts:
- Nigthttime lane closings at times between 7 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.
- At least one lane of traffic open in each directions at all times
Project Background:
- Build two-lane roundabout at Route 171/Route 43 intersection in Airport Drive
- Widen Route 171 to three-lanes (one lane in each direction with a center turn lane) between Fir Road and Route 43 in Airport Drive
- Prime Contractor: APAC, Springfield
- Completion Date: August 28, 2014
- Construction Cost: $2.6 million
