A Joplin man was injured after he swerved to miss a deer and hit a utility pole.
According to the Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday on River Road, five miles south of Joplin. Dustin Eby, 31, Joplin, driving a 1998 Ford Pickup, missed the deer, but struck the utility pole. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to Freeman West Hospital.
