A dedication ceremony for the Southern Lantern Society’s recently completed donor wall will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 31, in Billingsly Student Center’s Connor Ballroom.
“The design is meant to be a living history of the donors to Missouri Southern,” said Delores Honey, director of donor relations. “It’s our way of honoring them in an ongoing way.”
The donor wall – located in the hallway outside of the ballroom – will be updated each year to reflect the current amount that donors have given to the university.
“It also includes a TV screen that will show videos about the donors and the scholarships and funds they’re supporting,” she said.
The custom tile mural was created by Images in Tile, a Joplin-based company that is the leading manufacturer of tile murals using ceramic, porcelain, stone and glass tile. Sam Sturgis, president and director of sales and marketing for the company, graduated from Missouri Southern in 2006 with a degree in marketing management. Graphic designer Jon White graduated in 2008 with a marketing degree.
