Carl Junction plans events to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And, as always, the town of Carl Junction has a full roster of events to help raise awareness about breast cancer, and funds for research and services for local women. Here is a timeline of events that I hope you will help us to get the word about. As always, feel free to call me with any questions. Thank you for your annual support of these efforts!

September 30, 6 pm: Carl Junction Community Center, 303 N. Main
Carl Junction Goes Pink
Volunteers from Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S (our local, non-profit breast cancer organization will partner with the R.O.C.C. Ministries youth group from the Carl Junction United Methodist Church. We will be painting pink breast cancer awareness ribbons on Main Street, from the Carl Junction Community Center to the Carl Junction Post Office. We will also be tying pink ribbons around street poles on Main Street and on Pennell street, from Main to the entrance at 171. We will also install pink filters on the flood lights at the Community Center, and at the Welcome Garden at 171 & Pennell. All of tonight's activities are in preparation for the first day of October, as CJ goes Pink.

October 1, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm, 2:00-4:15 pm Carl Junction Post Office
Stamp Out Breast Cancer Campaign Kick Off
The annual "Stamp Out Breast Cancer" campaign kicks off at the Carl Junction Post Office. The Carl Junction Post Office will compete with other United States Post Offices nationwide, to see which post office can sell the most breast cancer awareness postage stamps in the month of October. This is the 6th year for the CJ post office to compete. The CJ post office has been in the Top Ten each year, and has place first in the nation in 2013 and 2014.

October 3, 9 am, Comet Park, Carterville, MO
3rd Annual Pink Ribbon Ride
For the 3rd year in a row, Sandy Hicks has organized a motorcycle ride to benefit Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S.  The ride leaves Carterville at 10 am, and travels through MO, AR, OK and KS. This event is quite the undertaking, Any press that you can give to it would greatly be appreciated!!

Carl Junction Lion's Club' First Saturday Community Breakfast. 
All you can eat breakfast is $5, and benefits Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S.

October 11, 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm, Carl Junction High School Bulldog Stadium
6th Annual CJHS FBLA Breast Cancer Walk
This year's theme is "Walk Like a Boss". The annual walk features a pink balloon launch, concessions, raffles and kid's activities. Balloon launch and kick off of walk starts at 2 pm. Benefits Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S.

5th Annual Zumba to Show You CARE
This year the Zumbathon has been moved, to take place simultaneously with the breast cancer walk. Registration at the event, $10 per person.  Benefits Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S.

Eat to Show You CARE Fundraiser Night
Meet your friends and family at J.T.'s Burgers & Wings at Stone's Corner. A portion of all sales benefits Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S., and 100% of all tips benefits Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S.

5th Annual Skate to Show You CARE 
Hosted by Spinning Wheels SK8 Center, 710 East Pennell, Carl Junction. Door prizes, raffles, prizes and people of all ages on skates. Even some who probably shouldn't be! All to benefit Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S.

October 27, All Day/All Night  Gambino's Pizza, Carl Junction, MO 
Eat to Show You CARE Fundraiser Night 
All day a portion of sales from all dine in, carry out and delivery benefits Carl Junction C.A.R.E.S  And from 5- 8 pm, Carl Junction CARES volunteers will serve as servers for dine in. 100% of all tips during 5-8 pm benefits Carl Junction CARES.
