Thomas Jefferson announces 2015-2016 Concert and Theater Series

Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School begins the 2015-2016 Concert and Theater Series next month, and we have several exciting performances to share.  There is nothing quite like the experience of a live performance, and this year's series includes unique acts that you will not want to miss.  The 2015-2016 Concert and Theater Series at TJ is jam-packed with new and unique experiences.  Try something new this year.  Join us in the beautiful concert hall at the Humphreys Arts and Student Life Complex at TJ.

Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at 7 p.m.
GALA OPENING NIGHT CONCERT featuring PROJECT TRIO and the TJ Upper School choir and orchestra 
This opening night gala will feature a high-energy chamber music trio from New York who use their classical training and eclectic musical tastes to entertain audiences of all ages.  Project Trio is Peter Seymour, Greg Pattillo, and Eric Stephenson, andThe Wall Street Journal recently highlighted their “wide appeal, subversive humor and first-rate playing.”The New York Times wrote that flutist Greg Pattillo is “the best in the world at what he does.”  They will share the stage with the talented TJ Upper School vocal and instrumental ensembles.

VOCAL SPECTRUM

This award-winning group is one of the most sought-after quartets in the world, with appearances in Germany, Sweden, Holland, Russia, Japan, England, New Zealand and throughout the United States.  They have been singing together for more than a dozen years, and are the 2006 International Quartet Champions.

TJ Upper School Musical – Guys & Dolls
One of the most exciting musical events of the year.

TJ Family Theater: THE NUTCRACKER, by Midwest Regional Ballet

The Midwest Regional Ballet brings this winter tradition to Joplin for two shows in December.  The company has delighted audiences around the world with its magical performances, and you do not want to miss their visit to the TJ Concert Hall.

THE GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA

With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time. The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world.

TJ Family Theater: PETER RABBIT TALES
In celebration of the author’s 150th birthday anniversary, Enchantment Theatre Company, in collaboration with the Estate of Beatrix Potter and Penguin Books, brings her captivating stories to life. Fantastic masks, whimsical puppets, and original music help bring the marvelous world of Peter Rabbit to life on stage at TJ.

TJ Family Theater: POPOVICH PET THEATER
This family-oriented blend of unique comedy and pet stunts will be a hit with your entire family.  Moscow Circus veteran Gregory Popovich has been performing for more than 30 years, and is bringing his award-winning act, and more than 30 of his talented performing pets to TJ for this afternoon of magic, comedy, and fun.
