The Joplin Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 2911 W 14th at 4:24 AM. Friday, 18 September, 2015.
Fire crews arrived on the scene at 4:27 AM to find a large two story apartment complex with nothing showing. Residents on scene stated they could smell smoke and hear a detector sounding. Upon investigation a fire crew found the correct apartment and forced the door, finding smoke and flames showing. The crew performed an interior attack and extinguished a small amount of fire on the second floor of the apartment. The fire was declared under control at 4:48 AM.
Crews remained on scene until 6:18 AM. Renter information is not currently available.
No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or others in the area. JSix Joplin fire units and 17 Joplin Fire personnel responded as well as JPD and METS.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
