The Missouri Campus Compact 2015 Outstanding Community & Campus Collaboration Award has been presented to the Career Services at Missouri Southern State University, along with the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network and Motive Matters.
The award is in recognition of collaboration efforts that have created and support Missouri Southern programs including Super Leaders, Dress for Success, Career Fair Cram, Leadership Luncheons and Networking 101.
Programs were selected based on the following criteria:
· Two or more academic semesters of active partnership between the community organization and the institution.
· Partnership between the community organization and the institution was founded on a shared vision and clearly articulated goals, and the community organization was involved in the development of the program goals and learning outcomes.
· The community organization demonstrated a commitment to the student learning process and made a quantitative and qualitative impact on student learning.
· Individuals in the community were significantly impacted by the community organization and the institution demonstrated a commitment to meaningful service to the community.
“Through partnerships with YPN and Motive Matters, we have been able to create and sustain programs that bridge the gap between campus and community,” said Nicole Brown, director of Career Services. “Both organizations have been partners from the inception of the Super Leader program, an initiative created to identify, develop and motivate future community leaders. All programs are designed to help students connect and develop relationships with the local community in addition to preparing for the job market.”
One program was chosen per state in Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. Representatives will accept the award at the Campus Compact Heartland Conference on Oct. 30 in Kansas City, Mo.
