East Newton to retain varsity football for 2016 and 2017

As part of the continued efforts in keeping the patrons informed, the East Newton R-VI Schools administration will provide monthly information concerning Board meetings.

A recap of the December, 2015 regular meetings is as follows:

Recognitions: Patriot Pride Award – Cameron Clement, student at Granby and Ayla Clanton a high school student.

The Board approved the Consent Agenda, including the previous month Board minute and monthly bills, Substitute teacher list, and 2016-2017 Critical Shortage list.

Program Evaluations: Career Education program, Maintenance and Building, and Safety.

Reports:

Financial Report

Enrollment & Attendance for the end of November. Enrollment was 1,352 K-12. Triway campus with 374, Granby campus with 511, and the High School with 467. Overall attendance percentage was 93.5

National FFA Convention (recap)

Under Old Business, the Board approved MSBA policy updates. The Board approved the student application for the John T. Belcher Scholarship. The Board approved the high school campus connecting to the Newton County PW District #1 at some time in the future if the need presents itself. The Board approved Paragon Architecture for architect/engineer for future projects that could fall under the passage of the no tax increase bond issue. In final action under old business, the Board approved placing a no tax bond issue on the April 2016 ballot.

Public Comments: None

In respect to New Business, the Board approved the 2016 and 2017 high school football schedule to remain at the Varsity level.

The Board then went into Executive Session pursuant to RSMo. 610.021: Paragraph 3 Employees

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday January 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Central Office.
