(From the Joplin Police Department)
On December 3, 2015, at 11:41 PM, Mark Anthony Taylor escaped from custody.
Taylor,
a 20 year-old white male, serving as an inside trustee, was under supervision by a
detention officer while taking trash to a dumpster. Taylor fled from a detention officer to
the north and east of the police department.
A K-9 track was started but was unsuccessful. Taylor’s jail clothes were found near
Landreth Park.
Taylor was in custody and serving twenty-two days for the following warrants; operating
a motor vehicle with no driver’s license, domestic assault, trespassing, and obstruction.
Taylor also has two Carthage warrants for theft and trespass.
Policy prohibits inmates with certain criteria, including domestic assault, from being used
as an unsupervised outside trustee. On this occasion, Taylor was being used as an inside
trustee who, under supervision, was permitted to place trash into an outside container.
Mr. Taylor is described to be 5’11 to 6’01’’, weighing about 150. Taylor was considered
a low risk inmate. Charges will be submitted to the municipal prosecutor.
The Joplin Police Department is still looking for Mr. Taylor and we ask for assistance in
locating Mr. Taylor. If you know where he is, you are asked to notify Joplin Police
Department at 417-623-3131.
