Fatal Crash At 6:47 PM on Monday, December 7th,
The Joplin Police Department received a call of a traffic crash at 7th and Winfield. A pedestrian was struck by a westbound vehicle and pronounced dead at a local hospital. he incident is still under investigation by the Joplin Police Department Major Crash Team.
The victim in this fatal crash has been identified as 18 year old Micayla Christenson of Joplin. Witnesses state that the victim fell into the traffic lane and into the side of a westbound tractor trailer. The driver of the truck stopped and cooperated fully at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
Miss Christenson was a senior at Joplin High School.
