Florida men arrested with hot car, stolen IDs, marijuana

August 01, 2016 at 6:15 PM, Joplin Police observed a red Mitsubishi SUV cutting in and out of lanes and cutting off other vehicles on north of Zora on Range Line Road. 

When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle it fled at a high rate of speed, north on Range Line Road (Madison Ave as it entered into Webb City). At the intersection of 13th and Madison Ave. in Webb City, the driver lost control of the vehicle, hitting the curb, disabling the vehicle. 

Three subjects fled on foot from the vehicle. An off-duty Joplin Police Officer who was in the area apprehended the driver, identified as Randolph Spann Jr., 21, Lauderdale, Florida. 

A male passenger fled into the Wendy`s located at 13th and Madison. Officers arrested and identified David L. Banaszak, 38, Edgewater, Florida.

The third passenger was not located nor identified.

It was determined that the vehicle was stolen vehicle from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A search of the vehicle yielded more than fifty stolen personal ID’s. There was also a misdemeanor of marijuana in the vehicle.

Spann was arrested for Tampering 1st degree, Possession of Marijuana/Paraphernalia, Receiving Stolen Property, and Trafficking in Stolen Identification, and Felony Resisting.

Banaszak was arrested for Tampering 2nd Degree, Possession of Marijuana/Paraphernalia, Receiving Stolen Property, Trafficking in Stolen Identification, and Felony Resisting.

Some of the items that were recovered from the vehicle were reported early by a female. The female reported that her vehicle was broken into while parked at Colaw Fitness, 2706E. 7th Street and over three-hundred and eighty dollars ($380.00) worth of personal items were taken from her vehicle.
Charges are submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office.
