JFD responds to fire at Hempshire Pet Products

Structure Fire, 7502 E 26th St., Joplin, MO. - Hampshire Pet Products

The Joplin Fire Department responded to a commercial fire alarm, 7502 E 26th St., at 9:29 AM, Wednesday, 10 August. Crews arrived on scene at 9:40 AM to find a three story manufacturing facility with smoke and heat in the hammer mill and bag house. Flames in the area where extinguished and ventilated.

Crews remained on scene until 11:56 AM.

No injuries were reported to either fire personnel or bystanders. Five Joplin Fire units and 14 Joplin Fire personnel responded, as well as JPD and METS.

The cause of the fire was a buildup of flour in the hammer mill on the screens as the machine operated.
