The Crowder College Foundation honored longtime employees of the college, Herb and Barbara Schade, the Distinguished Service award at the annual Foundation meeting on Monday, August 8, on the Neosho campus.
Combined, Herb and Barbara, have 70 years of service at Crowder College. The couple has many fond memories of their years spent at Crowder, as this is where they met. “Because the college was small, the faculty was a very close-knit group. We enjoyed getting to know one another over lunch in the cafeteria or taking breaks in the faculty lounge. At the end of the workday, we would occasionally have ping pong marathons,” said Herb. Barbara remembers the satisfaction she felt when she could guide students to the information they needed and she is proud of the role she played in getting the Crowder library onto MOBIUS, the statewide academic online library catalog.
“Herb and Barb exemplify selfless generosity in such a meaningful way through their faithful gifts to the college, even after retirement. Their giving has never wavered. I am certain they have inspired other Crowder employees to give what they can to help our students reach their full potential,” said Cindy Branscum, Director of Institutional Advancement. “We are so very pleased to present them with the 2016 Distinguished Service Award.”
The Crowder College Foundation, Inc., established in 1965, is a not for profit, 501 (c)(3) tax exempt organization. The Foundation has a history of service to the institution through the creation of private funding vehicles that have enriched every facet of Crowder.
