Three Joplin residents injured in collision on Route P

Three Joplin residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident 1:30 p.m. Sunday on Route P, a half mile west of Joplin.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Kay K. Smith, 41, Joplin, made a U-turn into the path of a 2005 Dodge Stratus driven by Heather N. Hodges, 38, Joplin. The Hodges vehicle hit the Smith vehicle.

The drivers were treated for minor injuries at Mercy Hospital, Joplin. A passenger in the Smith vehicle, Keith M. Smith, 40, Joplin, was treated for serious injuries at Mercy Hospital.
