Input sought on bicycle, pedestrian transportation plan for Joplin area

(From the City of Joplin)

The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) is developing a Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan for the Joplin Area. JATSO is the metropolitan planning organization for the region that includes southern Jasper County and northern Newton County. The study area covers approximately 200 square miles and includes 18 municipalities as well as unincorporated areas. The Plan will communicate the vision for the area’s bicycle and pedestrian network and identify policy, program, and project recommendations to guide implementation.

The study process includes an assessment of bicycle and pedestrian facilities in order to develop network modifications, improvement initiatives, and an implementation timeline. Public input is a critical component of the process to help establish a vision and potential improvements for the Joplin Area. The public can share their input via:

Open House Public Meeting: Attend the open house public meeting to review information about previous regional recommendations and provide ideas about future initiatives. No formal presentation will be given and individuals are invited to stop by anytime from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in brief visioning and mapping activities with the project team.

5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 24, 2017

Joplin Public Library, 1901 E. 20th Street

Online Survey: Share your input via an online survey. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete and will be available through mid-September. The survey can be accessed at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/JATSObikeped
