A hit-and-run driver killed a bicyclist 7 p.m. Sunday on Route DD, 10 miles southeast of Nevada.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a grey Nissan, driver unknown, struck Billy J. Willis, 60, Nevada, who was riding a bicycle, knocking him into the ditch. The Nissan left the scene.
Vernon County Coroner David Ferry pronounced Willis dead at the scene at 7:13 p.m.
The fatality was the third this month and the 79th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
