Seneca Police: Fall decorations being stolen, scams target college students, grandparents

(From the Seneca Police Department)

The Seneca Police Department would like to make citizens aware that we have taken a report of fall decorations being stolen from the victims front porch during the overnight hours. If anyone has any information or observes someone suspicious to please contact the Seneca Police Department.

Also there are a couple of scams going around. The first one a subject will call and state that you will get free grant money. The number which showed up indicates that it is a Ohio phone number. They appear to be targeting college students.

The second one is someone will call you and state that they are a relative such as a grandchild. They advised that they have been arrested and need bail money sent to then. The number that was used indicated that they were in Wyoming and the caller said that she was arrested for DWI. Fortunately the targeted victim asked a lot of questions which the caller could not answer and hung up on her.

Of course as always never give out personal information including bank account numbers, etc.. The callers usually always have some sort of foreign accent.

We encourage the citizens to be vigilant and please forward the information to all your friends and family.
