Baxter Springs man driving stolen truck injured in crash after fleeing from Webb City Police

(From the Webb City Police Department)

On Friday, February 09, 2018 at 16:21 hours an officer with the Webb City Police Department recognized a maroon 2008 Ford pickup truck with an Arkansas license plate as a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Cherokee County (KS) on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 17:34 hours.

The officer attempted to stop the stolen truck on Madison near Fountain. The stolen truck was driven by a 39-year-old white male from Baxter Springs, Kansas.

The stolen truck failed to stop for the officer’s emergency lights and siren. The stolen truck turned west onto Fountain where it continued to flee westbound. The stolen truck struck another vehicle at the intersection of Fountain and Prairie Flower Road.

The stolen truck left the roadway and overturned, ejecting the driver. The driver was the sole occupant of the stolen truck. The driver of the stolen truck was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with critical injuries. The driver of other vehicle, a 36-year-old white male from Webb City, was not injured in the crash.

The Webb City Police Department has requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigate the crash. No names will be released at this time.

We would like to thank officers with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, Joplin Police Department, and troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with firefighters with the Webb City and Joplin Fire Departments and paramedics from the Metro Emergency Transport System for their assistance at the crash scene.
