Citizen phone call leads JPD to recovery of stolen vehicle, confiscation of meth and woman with marijuana in her bra

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

Last night, shortly after midnight, officers were dispatched to 403 North Main, Casey’s, for two suspicious vehicles and suspicious people.

Alert citizens thought that the persons around the two vehicles were acting “odd,” and thought the store might get robbed.

When an officer arrived, he found two males who were acting like they were working under the hood of a Chevy Impala. There was a white Suburban there that was quickly found to be a stolen vehicle, reported to our department previously. There was a female in the Impala who was nervous and smelled of narcotics.

A search of that car turned up a meth pipe and a baggie of meth. Searching further, the officer found a bag concealed in the trim around the headliner of the vehicle, with two more baggies of meth.

At the jail, the female was found to have a baggie of marijuana and a marijuana pipe in her bra.

Thanks to a phone call, a stolen vehicle was recovered, and two males and a female were taken to jail on felony charges related to meth, paraphernalia and the stolen vehicle.
