On August 24, 2018, Baxter Springs police officers were dispatched to a vehicle accident at 1910 Military Avenue, Oriental Gardens restaurant where a vehicle had driven into the front of the building and injured two individuals. Both of those individuals were transported to local hospitals in Joplin, Missouri with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested and is being formally charged.
UPDATE: In reference to the August 24 incident at Oriental Garden. Janet Freeman of Baxter Springs is currently being held in the Cherokee County Jail.
A probable cause affidavit has been sent to the prosecutor's office requesting the following charges against Janet Freeman:
Aggravated Battery While DUI
Driving Under The Influence
Reckless Driving
Criminal Damage To Property
A detention order was requested and signed Saturday. As always, she is presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
