Bond set at $50,000 for Neosho man arrested by Newton County Sheriff on meth trafficking charge

On 08-21-18, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office attempted to make a car stop on an individual in Neosho.

The individual pulled into the parking lot of a church and immediately fled on foot. While pursuing the individual deputies observed him remove something from his pocket and discard it behind the church. The subject was then taken into custody.

The item the individual discarded turned out to be over two ounces of methamphetamine. Drug packaging materials were also recovered from his vehicle. 



The individual taken into custody was identified as Thomas M. Burckes IV from Neosho.

He was charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance/ Resisting arrest by flight for a felony and Driving while Suspended. 

His bond was set at $50,000 at the time of his arrest.

The Neosho Police Department assisted.
