Joplin, Redings Mill fire dapartments battle blaze at Shady Lane Mobile Home Park

Friday August 24th, 2018 11:24 A.M, Redings Mill Fire District with Automatic Mutual Aid from Joplin Fire Department, responded to 4720 S. Rangeline for a reported structure fire. 

Joplin Chief 2 arrived and advised it was a working fire in a mobile home. He stated that all occupants were out and accounted for. 

Heavy fire conditions were found near the rear of the home. Redings Mill Engine 5 arrived and fire suppression efforts were conducted. The fire was brought under control at 11:52 A.M. 

Rangeline was closed for a brief period due to a water supply line that was used in the suppression efforts. The occupants were home at the time and reported the fire, they were able to escape the home with no injuries. 



The occupants did state that smoke detectors that Redings Mill Fire District had installed recently assisted in alerting them of the fire. The Red Cross was contacted for the displacement of the occupants. The home and contents were considered a total loss. 

The cause of the fire is undetermined. Our appreciation is extended to the assisting agencies that included Joplin Fire Department, Newton County Ambulance, Missouri Department of Transportation and Newton County Sheriff’s Department.

Friday at approximately 11:26 am, Engine 4A responded as automatic aid for the Redings Mill Fire Protection District to a reported structure fire on S. Rangeline at the Shady Lane Mobile Home Park. On arrival Redings Mill was attacking a fire in a mobile home, Engine 4 provided a supply line to the Redings Mill engine from a nearby hydrant and assisted with fire ground operations.

The ability to provide assistance to our neighbors and our neighbors reciprocating that aid to us is a tremendous asset for the entire community and makes all of us better at what we do.
