JPD arrests three on felony warrants following Thursday night SWAT team visit to 1223 South McKinley

Last night, August 30, 2018, the Joplin Police Department’s SWAT Team secured a residence at 1223 South McKinley. The Joplin Police Department’s Special Investigative Unit had obtained a search warrant for the residence. The SWAT team located 5 people in the residence. Detectives then began an investigation.

Callie Smith, 30, Baxter Springs, Kansas was arrested for a Cherokee County, Kansas Felony Warrant and a Yavapai County, Arizona Felony Warrant.

Tyler Applebee, 24, Wentworth, Missouri was arrested for 6 misdemeanor warrants for his arrest and Two Felony Newton County Warrants.

Cody Brinegar, 27, Joplin, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance. (Charges submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor)

As officers had approached the residence a vehicle fled. Officers stopped it at 13th and Jackson and contacted and identified the driver. He had a felony warrant for his arrest for burglary. The male then fled in his vehicle and a pursuit was initiated. Officers lost sight of the vehicle and then found that it had been abandoned near 22nd and Wall. The vehicle had struck two houses causing minor damages. The driver wasn’t located, and a handgun was found in the vehicle.
