Man watching JPD officers investigate murder scene arrested for driving stolen car

(From the Joplin Police Department)

Incident Spotlight

Yesterday at about 5 p.m. our officers and detectives were at Economy Inn, still investigating the homicide.

One of our detectives saw a Chevy Cruz pull into the parking lot, and noticed the front half was spray painted flat black. The driver exited the vehicle and went up on the balcony and began watching officers. The detective ran the plate and saw it didn't match the car. A check of the VIN proved the car to be reported stolen.

The male was contacted and arrested for driving the stolen car, 2 Joplin Warrants, 2 Duenweg Warrants and a Cherokee County, Kansas Warrant. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
