The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is now offering enrollment in our 16th, semi-annual, Sheriff’s Citizens Academy.
This session will be a special condensed version of our usual program. In order to give opportunity to those citizens who don’t have the time to invest in a thirteen week program; we have reduced the number of weeks to eight. We have further reduced the class time down to two hours per class. In addition, because we have received numerous requests to move the class to a Tuesday night, we are happy to announce this session will be held on Tuesday nights.
This session will run from Tuesday September 25th to November 13th. Classes will be held every Tuesday night from 6:30-8:30 PM at various locations in Carthage, Mo.
Participants must be 18 years of age or older, have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions. There is no cost for participants.
Topics will include: Patrol Functions, Dangerous Drugs, DWI Enforcement, K-9 Operations, Detention Center Operations, Dispatching, SWAT Operations, Firearms Training, Less-Lethal/Taser, Cyber Crimes, Crimes against Children, Criminal Investigations, and Crime Scene Investigations.
The Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy was initiated in 2010 to give the citizens of Jasper County an inside look into the day to day operations of the Sheriff’s Office and Jail. Participants will be introduced to the challenges faced by law enforcement and learn about why we do what we do. Participants will receive hands on training and will take the role of a Deputy Sheriff in training simulations.
Interested persons can visit www.jaspercountysheriff.org to obtain a registration form or contact Sgt. Craig Davis directly. Completed forms can be faxed to 417-359-8620, hand delivered or mailed to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office SCA, 231 South Main St. Carthage, Mo. 64836.
Applicants will be contacted at a later date to notify them of their acceptance.
Questions can be referred to Sgt. Craig Davis at 417-358-8177 ext.1212.
