Groundbreaking held for Freeman Learning Center

(From Freeman Health System)

Freeman Health System held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of a project to build a near-site day care center for children of Freeman employees. When complete, Freeman Learning Center will be nearly 10,000 square feet and will accommodate up to 90 children.

“Freeman Learning Center will focus on more than just making sure the child is well fed, rested and safe,” said Paula F. Baker, Freeman President and Chief Executive Officer. “We will offer structured play that engages children to help them grow intellectually, emotionally and socially.”

Freeman Learning Center will be open to children ages 6 weeks through 6 years. Both part-time and full-time staff will be able to enroll their children in the day care program. Meals will be provided, and the center will have a lactation room for mothers to nurse their babies.

Freeman Learning Center will feature rooms for different age groups, a playground area, a monitored security system and a storm shelter to protect the children in case of natural disaster. The center will be fully licensed and will employ approximately 27 individuals.
