The Open House Smart Cities meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 30 has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 7. It will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Bookhouse Cinema, 715 E. Broadway Street. The original meeting was cancelled due to inclement weather.
During this meeting, city staff and planners will be available to discuss various ideas included in the Smart City initiative. This could include quality of life, technology and internet usage, or ways to improve efficiencies throughout the community.
Smart Cities have been perceived as resilient because of the collaboration and relationship-building among organizations and businesses that occurs within the community. They also create plans for natural disasters that might affect their community. Other possibilities and efficiencies exist in a smart city, such as safer neighborhoods and improved economic opportunities.
If residents are not able to attend, they can join the Live Stream event that can be found on the City of Joplin Facebook page. For more information, contact the City at 417-624-0820, ext. 510 or via email at cdbgdr@joplinmo.org
