Presentation on tri-state mining set at Missouri Southern

(From Southern News Service)

A presentation on the recent additions to the Tri-State Mining collection will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, on the first floor of Spiva Library on the campus of Missouri Southern State University.

MSSU Archivist and Special Collections Librarian, Whitney Hamm will be the presenter.

“This presentation will highlight the addition of over 9,000 prospecting logs to the collection,” said Hamm. “It will also provide additional ways to search for information from the landing page of the Tri-State Mining Map collection.”

The Tri-State Mining collection is a compilation of historic mining information, including maps and prospecting logs from southwest Missouri, southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma.

The event is open to all campus and community members.

The project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, as administered by the Missouri State Library - a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
