Trail work, asphalt paving to begin in Joplin parks, parking lots

Residents in the Joplin area should take note of upcoming dates of trail work and asphalt paving in Joplin parks and parking lots.

Starting Sunday, May 5, Springfield Striping & Sealing, the general contractor for the City’s 2019 Parking Lot and Trail Sealing Project, will start sealing of the lots & trails this Sunday as follows:

Sunday, May 5: McIndoe Park (5 parking lots), Leonard Park (lot and trails), and the Fire Station parking lot

Monday, May 6: Humphrey Park (lot & trails), and begin work at Landreth Park (approx. 1/3 of the trail sealing at Landreth and lots)








Tuesday, May 7: Work will continue at Landreth Park

Wed, May 8: Work will continue at Landreth Park, (if needed)

Sat, & Sun, May 11-12: Downtown parking lots on 500 and 600 blocks of Joplin Avenue. 500 block of Virginia Ave; 300 block of Pennsylvania & Virginia Avenues, (Justice Center lot)

Work for the project is funded through the Transportation Sales Tax Fund and the Parks Trail Maintenance Fund. Work will be done as weather permits. Lots will have barricades noting closures. It is recommended that the public should avoid these areas during paving times.
