(From Southern News Service)
The question of how to help the homeless is not easily answered. The next edition of “Newsmakers” will feature organizations that try to help those who want to be helped.Former homeless people were asked about what keeps some on the streets and what they see as the biggest hurdles for those who want to change their circumstances.
Our Veterans First, a relatively new 501C3 organization, is geared toward building short-term housing to help veterans gain the skills necessary that could get them off the streets permanently.
What they need now is a generous gift of land. The new installment of “Newsmakers” checks out about their efforts and continued assistance from the Homeless Coalition of Jasper and Newton Counties.
