Newsmakers to spotlight KCU-Joplin medical school's first graduating class

(From Southern News Service)

Cali Clark, a graduate of Missouri Southern State University who is a member of the first graduating class of Kansas City University-Joplin’s medical school, will be featured on “Newsmakers.”

Clark has another important tie to Missouri Southern, as she is the daughter-in-law of Dr. Robert Clark, the founder of what is now KGCS-TV, the campus television station. She will discuss what it has been like to continue her education with a goal of becoming a doctor and practicing here in Joplin.

Dr. Laura Rosch, dean of KCU’s Joplin campus, will discuss what an exciting time it is for members of the first graduating class and what the future holds for medicine in the Joplin area.

The show will air on KGCS at 5 and 9 p.m. the week of May 2; and at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, May 1, on KOAM-TV. “Newsmakers” is also available to view on the KGCS YouTube channel.

KGCS programming can be seen on channel 21, and is also available on regional cable television systems such as Sparklight, Mediacom and Suddenlink Communications. The station operates as a service of the Department of Communication at Missouri Southern State University.
