(From the Lamar Fire Department)Tuesday at around 2:30 in the afternoon, we were alerted to a structure fire south of Lamar in the county.
When we arrived, we had heavy smoke coming out of the attic. We responded with 3 trucks and 8 firefighters and were assisted by Jasper Fire Department with 3 trucks and 7 firefighters, and a big shout out to Barton County Ambulance Department for providing support and looking after our firefighters.
We would also like to send a big thank you to Golden City Fire Department for handling a grass fire while we were at the structure fire.
No injuries were reported and the occupants were out of the house upon arrival, the cause is undetermined.
