Seneca teen killed, two injured in crash on Old 60 Drive

A Seneca teen was killed and two people injured in a one-vehicle accident 2:45 p.m. today on Old 60 Drive three miles east of Seneca.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2007 Nissan Altima driven by a 17-year-old Seneca boy crossed the center of the road, overcorrected, traveled off the right side of the road, overturned and hit a tree.









A passenger, Steven N. Keith, 18, Seneca, was pronounced dead at the scene by Newton County Coroner Jerry Deems at 3:22 p.m.

The driver and another passenger, Benjamin M. Greene, 18, Seneca, were treated for minor injuries at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin.

The fatality was the 53rd this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
